Heat is on as Saigon comes to Campbeltown

-

A MUSICAL often described as ‘the greatest of all time’ is set to dazzle the silver screen in the Wee Toon this weekend.

October’s cinema screenings include a special event showing of Miss Saigon, as the 25th anniversary gala performance of the legendary musical will be shown in cinemas across the UK for one day only.

The weekend’s offerings also include Disney’s remake of the much loved classic

Pete’s Dragon, fresh spin on zombie horror The Girl With All The

Gifts, a new chapter in the life of everyone’s favourite singleton Bridget Jones’s Baby,

stunning family animation Kubo and the Two Strings and Woody Allen’s latest, Café Society.

The epic love story Miss Saigon tells the tragic tale of young bar girl Kim, orphaned by war, who falls in love with American GI Chris – but their lives are torn apart by the fall of Saigon.

Recorded live in London’s West End, the anniversary performance features appearances by the original cast, including Jonathan Pryce and Lea Salonga.

This acclaimed new production is an ideal way to experience the excitement of live performance for a lot less than the price of a seat in the West End.

Disney’s latest live action remake, Pete’s

Dragon, combines a stellar cast and stunning special effects to bring a muchloved family favourite to a new audience. Grace has heard stories of a magical dragon for years from her wood-carver father.

However, that’s all

she thought they were until she meets Pete, who claims to live in the woods with a giant green dragon named Elliott. The Girl With All The

Gifts holds the key to survival in a strikingly original post-apocalyptic zombie horror. M R Carey’s adaptation of his much-acclaimed best-selling novel is set

in a dystopian near future, where a mysterious disease has ravaged humanity. The afflicted are robbed of all free will and turned into flesh-eating ‘hungries’. Mankind’s only hope is a small group of hybrid children who crave human flesh but retain the ability to think and feel.

Who is the father of Bridget Jones’s Baby

and will the beloved heroine ever find her happy ever after? Twelve years after the last instalment, hapless and hilarious Bridget is now in her forties and enjoying her highflying role as a news producer. However, her relationship status is beyond complicated, as she’s split up with Mark Darcy and has a new chap, and no idea who’s the daddy.

A boy battles gods and monsters in Kubo and the Two Strings, a breathtaking animated family action adventure. Young Kubo leads a simple life, but everything changes when he accidentally summons a spirit from the past that’s bent on pursuing an ancient vendetta. Our unlikely hero must embark on an amazing quest to save his family and solve the mystery of his father, the world’s greatest samurai warrior.

Mingle with the stars of old Hollywood and become a part of Café

Society, directed by Woody Allen. Bobby falls hard for secretary Vonnie, but she’s with someone else. He’s left to try to negotiate the glitz and glamour alone in this charming, poignant and beautifully shot bittersweet comedy.
