Argyll bowling club’s open pairs and charity triples
A BOWLER rolled with the best when she was part of two winning winter teams.
Kathleen McGougan skipped the winning team, with Moira Macdougall, lead, and Linda Brannigan, in Argyll bowling club’s annual Charity Triples competition, and recently, in a nail-biting finish, with Malcolm Maguire lifting the Open Pairs’ trophy.
The triples final was very closely fought.
The winners, by just one shot after an extra end, were Moira Macdougall, lead, Linda Brannigan, and Kathleen McGougan, skip. The runners-up were John Mason, Robert Todd and David Brown.
A spokesperson said: ‘Thanks to everyone who supported the event which raised £225 for Multiple Sclerosis.’
The Open Pairs’ Competition, sponsored by R& D Transport, began on Monday February 6. The semi finals and finals were on Friday February 10.
Excellent
Spectators and supporters saw some excellent bowling and sportsmanship.
In the first semi-final, McGougan and Maguire beat Davie Reid and Gavin A McLachlan,12 shots to 11 in the ninth end. Andrew Ronald Snr. and Andrew Ronald Jr. beat Robert Coffield and Robert Todd 10:3 in the second semi-final.
The final saw Andrew Ronald Snr. and Andrew Ronald Jnr. leading nine shots to seven after 10 ends.
The final 11th end saw McGougan and Maguire put in a magnificent effort to win the competition 12 shots to nine.
