THE KINTYRE Club is hosting an evening of entertainment to launch the re-opening of its charitable club and restaurant.

The charitable organisation, originally founded in 1825, was brought back to life by Machrihanish Dunes and supports numerous local charities and groups. Administrators are keen to get as many new members as possible.

Kevin Lewis, of Machrihanish Dunes, said: ‘Since we brought the Kintyre Club back in 2012, we have donated more than £50,000 to this area.

‘The only way this is successful is if the community joins us, so we encourage anyone who is interested to come along.

‘One hundred per cent of the money raised by the Kintyre Club is given to people and charities in Kintyre. Not one penny is taken by Machrihanish Dunes or any of its subsidiaries. The funds are distributed in a variety of ways, from students needing assistance to pay for their graduation gowns, or football clubs and brass bands needing help to purchase new equipment, to local groups or charities.’

Entry on the evening is £20, or £15 for Kintyre Club members – those who wish to join on the evening are welcome to do so, and will pay the reduced entry.

The relaunch event on Saturday March 4, starts at 7pm, with a complimentary glass of wine and canapés, followed by a buffet dinner and quiz, with entertainment provided by Highland dancers from James McCorkindale’s School of Dance and live music from Tommy and Stewart Blue.

Subscription to the charity is only £10 per year, and gives members access to the Kintyre Club restaurant at the Ugadale Hotel, and the opportunity to help the community.
