Kintyre players on the board at Scottish Open darts

-

CHARLES Robertson and Jamie McGougan battled into the final 64 in one of Scotland’s premier open darts competitions.

It was an excellent result considering there were 998 entries, including many professionals.

Talented teenage sportsman Gavin McLachlan also made an impact and reached the last 128.

A number of darts champions have been crowned recently during several competitions in Kintyre.

The ladies’ singles darts contest was held in the Ailsa Bar on Thursday February 9, where Natalie Mathieson was victorious, with Rosemary Todd as runner-up.

The ladies descended on the Ailsa again a week later for the doubles competition.

This time the winning team was Mary Ross and Rosemary Todd, with runners-up Natalie Mathieson and Pauline Baines.

The darts landed in Southend on Monday February 20, when the Alex McKerral singles was held in the Argyll Arms Hotel.

The popular charity event was well attended, with 28 players entering.

The best-of-seven final was well fought between Gavin McLachlan and Jamie McGougan, producing some excellent darts, before Jamie triumphed.

James White scored 180 in the earlier rounds.

Thanks were expressed to Malcolm and Lynn at the Argyll Arms for donating the prizes.
