THE WINDS of success are blowing on a Kintyre turbine manager nominated for two national awards.

Quality and safety boss Julie Blue, of CS Wind, is one of 80 entrants whittled down to 35 nominated in the prestigious 2017 Young Professionals Green Energy Awards.

At 28, Julie is the youngest person working at senior management level within CS Wind.

She joined the company’s quality department in 2014 as an assistant and now, as a manager, her role is to ensure all work in the factory is carried out in compli- ance with the standards and the applicable legislations for quality, safety and environment.

Julie played a pivotal role in the merging of the former company, Wind Towers (Scotland) Ltd with the CS Wind global organisation, which took over in 2016.

Safety standards

A spokesperson said: ‘Julie took the lead in managing the changes to processes and procedures, working with new colleagues across different time zones and cultures, ensuring that the highest safety and quality standards were maintained during this period of change.

‘CS Wind has been impressed with the standards and has adopted quality management procedures implemented by Julie and her team in the UK as best practice and is rolling these out to their other factories in Canada, Malaysia, Vietnam and China.’

The Young Professionals Green Energy Awards recognise a diverse range of talent in the renewable energy sector.

Wind, wave, bioenergy, tidal, solar and hydrogen power, as well as renewable and low-carbon heat and the emerging field of energy storage, are all represented in the awards.

The event will take place at Glasgow Science Centre on May 25.
