Prices rise at Islay market
UNITED Auctions had a total clearance at their Islay sale of 723 store cattle on April 8.
Bullocks rose £40.48 per head or 21.6 pence per kilo on the year while heifers recorded a rise of £47.43 per head or 19.9 pence per kilo.
Bullocks levelled out at £872.53 per head or 241.83 pence per kilo while heifers sold to average £787.59 per head or 231.75 per kilo.
Mr Carmichael, Coillabus, led the top priced bullocks per head at £1,330 for Limousin crosses while the Lossit consignment led the kilo prices in this section at 285 pence.
Limousin heifers from Coillabus again led the prices per head at £1110 while Tallant toped this section per kilo for Charolais Crosses at 276 pence.
