The social scene

-

The social scene is as important as the on-the-water activity. The focus is the marquee by the Tarbert pontoons. Clyde Cruising Club is organising Icebreaker parties this year to kick-start events and welcome competitors on Thursday night. There will be a bar and a hog roast. A similar event will be held at Largs Yacht Haven for the white sail fleet. A small donation will be asked for to support the CCC Seamanship and Pilotage Trust charity. The Tarbert marquee provides a meeting point and social venue where everyone can enjoy drinks and catch up on the day’s action on the water. Saturday night welcomes The Eliot Murray Band with free entry to the event. The traditional and spectacular fireworks on Saturday are this year being funded by Tarbert Enterprise Company (TEC) and Tarbert Harbour Authority (THA). TEC receives support from Argyll and Bute Council and THA. John Hardie of TEC, which takes the lead in organising shoreside attractions, said: ‘We welcome both competitors and visitors to this fantastic event. Everyone recognises its importance to the village. The regatta is so well run on the water with top class racing and this is pointed up by the entry list from far and wide. Ashore it’s also great fun with a buzz about the village that is always associated with the Scottish Series weekend.’ Tarbert’s hotels, restaurants and other accommodation providers are geared up to offer a selection of the best of hospitality and food for all. John added: ‘The Silvers Marine Scottish Series provides the best food, drink and boating for an unforgettable experience both on and off the water.’
