Saddling up for new cycling club

-

THE WHEELS are in motion for a new cycling club in Campbeltown.

All interested cyclists are encouraged to attend a meeting in the Keeping It Local building in Burnbank Street next Wednesday, June 28, at 7.30pm to kickstart the club.

The meeting aims to give an overview of the potential activities that a club would undertake, form a committee and prepare a constitution in order to affiliate with Scottish Cycling.

Robbie Semple first suggested the idea of creating a club to promote safe cycling and hold organised runs and rides, competitively and for fun, in May and, with a lot of interest in the idea, he set up the meeting.

Kintyre has a lot to offer cyclists, with the gruelling 73-mile Kintyre Way Ultra Cycle event and the Mull of Kintyre Sprint Triathlon, which includes a hilly 21km cycle along the east coast of Kintyre, already on the calendar.
