Kintyre Red Cross helps fire victims
MONEY from Kintyre Red Cross may help the victims of London’s destructive high-rise blaze. During Red Cross Week in May, members of the fundraising committee raised £4,624.50 by serving lunches in exchange for donations.
The British Red Cross, which created the London Fire Relief Fund in the aftermath of the Grenfell Tower tragedy, will donate cash to those affected, including those who have lost everything, to buy the things they most need at this difficult time.
Some 33 British Red Cross volunteers have supported more than 400 residents at rest centres since the fire, providing practical and emotional support and helping to distribute clothing, food and water donated by the public. Centre organiser Anne Cousin thanked the people of Kintyre for their support and said: ‘The British Red Cross has really never been more needed. Recently in the Manchester and London terror attacks, and in the Grenfell high-rise disaster, we have seen terrible events.’
