Heidbangers play on Gigha

-

A PARTY of Dunaverty’s Heidbangers travelled to Gigha for their annual outing on Gigha’s very quirky nine-hole course.

Volunteers had the course in good condition although the rough off the fairways was so tough that the 11 players managed to lose 42 balls between them.

John Brown led after the first nine holes with 18 points to John Dickenson’s 17, with Robin Finlay and Alex Arkell both on 16. Things changed on the second nine with the leader dropping down to 15 points for a 33 total.

Harry MacLean racked up 20 points to give him the lead on 35 but it was Bruce Robertson who came from the back with an excellent 21 on this round to add to his 15 on the first giving him a winning total of 36.

The third round, again on stableford points, was a hidden fours and with a total of 47 points this went to Sandy Watson, Alex Arkell, John Brown and Bill Brannigan.

The party had a really enjoyable day in very mild weather and the Heidbangers would like to express their thanks to the volunteers who prepared the course.

Results: 1 Bruce Robertson 36 points, 2 Harry MacLean 35, 3 John Brown 33, 4 Robin Finlay 32 (bih), 5 John Dickenson 32.

Hidden fours: 1 John

Brown, Sandy Watson, Alex Arkell, Bill Brannigan, 2 Harry MacLean, Bruce Robertson, Alastair Brown, John Dickenson 43, 3 Danny Halliday, Robin Finlay, Robin Finlay and A N Other 39.
