MOKTri 2017
Sir,
Following last year’s successful event, members of Campbeltown Running Club are hosting their fourth sprint distance triathlon at Aqualibrium on Sunday.
Participants of the multi-sport event will test their endurance by swimming 750m, 30 lengths, followed by a challenging out and back 21km cycle up High Askimol and out towards Ballochgair on the East Kintyre Road; and if that wasn’t enough, strong legs will be required for the 5km run along Kilkerran Road and the banks of Campbeltown Loch to complete the challenge.
The race is great fun, it is tough but there is a friendly atmosphere and it is enjoyed by people from all over Scotland.
We have a range of very serious competitors, people who participate for fun and those who are ticking off a bucket list.
It is a small event with an emphasis on participation over placings, though the team event can be quite competitive.
About 80 people will take part and we hope that the weather is good and people come out and cheer the competitors.
We take safety very seriously, so the routes will be well signposted, and we ask competitors and drivers to respect each other at all times.
The swim legs start at 1030am on Sunday morning and for the next two hours, the competitors will be coming and going from the transition area on Kinloch Green until about 12.30pm. Dave Sinclair, Campbeltown.
