Kintyre Parkinson’s group starts up

-

A CAMPBELTOWN Parkinson’s information event has spawned a new group.

People with Parkinson’s, their families and carers are all invited to join the recently established support group for Kintyre.

The group, supported by Parkinson’s UK, will hold its inaugural meeting on Wednesday September 6 at Lorne and Lowland church new hall, Longrow, Campbeltown, from 2pm-4pm. And it will regularly get together on the first Wednesday of each month at the same time and venue.

Archie Smith, one of the group’s founders, said: ‘Everyone affected by Parkinson’s is welcome to come along to our meetings.

‘There’s nothing quite like being among friendly folk who totally understand some of the issues you face as a person with Parkinson’s or as a family member or carer of someone with the condition.

‘We know that joining in can sometimes be a bit daunting but you’re certain of a warm welcome, a good cup of tea and a chat.’

Chloe MacMillan, Parkinson’s area development manager, said: ‘It’s fantastic news that this new Parkinson’s group in Kintyre has been created.

‘Parkinson’s UK is delighted to support the local people who have worked so hard to set up the group.

‘The group will be part of a 40-strong network that covers the length and breadth of Scotland and I’m sure will be fabulous source of support, information and friendship for people affected by Parkinson’s in Kintyre.’
