ENTERTAINERS raised the roof and gave pensioners a sterling show at Victoria hall.
Dance, song and music, MC’d by Kay Johnstone, was all part of Campbeltown Community Council’s annual senior citizen’s party last Saturday.
Pipe major Fiona Mitchell led Kintyre Schools novice pipe band in rousing opening numbers, to set the atmosphere, before James McCorkindale’s dancers performed a number of Highland routines on the main stage.
Taylor McMillan, eight, and Kayla Grumoli, seven, danced first followed by a Highland Fling from Freya Borthwick, four, Korri MacMillan, six, and Rona McLean, eight. Linzi Cameron assisted their tutor Jane Scott, 13, who performed a solo flawless Blue Bonnets.
Accordionist Alec McKinnon, from Carradale, was accompanied by many older folk when he played Mull of Kintyre. Lorna Hume continued the musical theme with a rendition of Roy Orbison’s: It’s too
Soon to Know and Willie Mitchell’s: The Road to Drumleman.
Afterwards Lorna told the audience that one of the lines in the song describes her granny’s aunty and uncle – Lizzy
