Remembrance Day poppies
IN NINE days the nation remembers its fallen heroes and many will purchase poppies.
Poppyscotland is calling on Scotland’s schools to explore the power of design as part of remembrance and reflection.
The charity for veterans has launched a learning competition for 2017/18.
Poppy Places and Spaces is a design competition divided into two age groups, P4 to P7 and S1 to S3, which has been inspired by the fact that 2018 is the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.
Dr Derek Patrick from Poppyscotland, said: ‘We want you to design a Poppy Place and Space – an area for remembrance and reflection.’
Campbeltown has two remembrance services, one on Saturday November 11 at the Commonwealth war graves cemetery at Kilkerran, and another the following day, at Campbeltown’s war memorial.
