Jimmy and Shirley clear up at Stronvaar

TWO PLAYERS dominated Campbeltow­n Bowling Club’s outdoor season, picking up five trophies each.

Jimmy Anderson and Shirley Bannatyne collected their silverware at the annual prize-giving in the Stronvaar clubhouse on Saturday night.

Jimmy won a pairs trophy and four singles, while Shirley won all five singles trophies available in the ladies’ section, one of which was the John McMillan memorial trophy, newly presented by Doreen McMillan and family.

Following a buffet, presidents Gavin McLachlan and Lorraine Brodie presented the prizes.

Vice-president Duncan MacInnes brought the formal proceeding­s to a close with a vote of thanks and the presentati­on of commemorat­ive quaichs to the presidents. Prizes were awarded to: Championsh­ip: Jimmy Anderson, runner-up Robert Hendrie. Ladies’ championsh­ip: Shirley Bannatyne, runner-up Lorraine Brodie. President’s prize: Jimmy Anderson, runner-up David McCormick. Ladies’ president’s prize: Shirley Ban- natyne, runner-up Jessie Andrew. Hoynes cup: Gavin McLachlan, runner-up Steven Dickson. Fisherman’s trophy: Shirley Bannatyne, runner-up Lorraine Brodie. Centenary cup: Jimmy Anderson, runner-up Bobby Dalziel. Past presidents’ cup: Jimmy Anderson, runner-up John McLean. Ladies’ past presidents’ cup: Shirley Bannatyne, runner-up Catherine McEachran. Blue trophy: Alan McCormick, runner-up Alex Black. Two bowl cup: Archie Johnston, runner-up Alex Black. Ladies’ two bowl trophy: Shirley Bannatyne, runner-up Lorraine Brodie. Senior singles: Hugh MacDonald, runner-up Dugald Graham. Novices’ cup: Angus Brodie, runner-up Stewart Blue. Men’s pairs: Jimmy Anderson and Dougie Lang, runners-up Hugh Newlands and Robert Todd. Mixed pairs: Alex Black and George Reid, runners-up John Scott and Stewart Blue. Wednesday league: Alex Black.
