Southend’s spooky spectacular
SOUTHEND turned into Spooky Hollows on Monday night when guisers glided into St Blaan’s Hall.
The well-dressed youngsters were welcomed by the Southend SWI ladies, who traditionally host an annual Hallowe’en party for all of the district’s primary school age children.
The evening kicked off with a parade displaying all the fantastic fancy dress on display, much of which was hand-crafted and very well thought out.
There were prizes for the best dressed, most original, scari- est, funniest and group outfits, with money for first place and sweets for all the runners-up.
There was also a pumpkin carving contest.
The children played games including pass the parcel, musical statues and the mummy game, as well as dooking for apples.
The children helped the ladies tidy up at the end, by bursting all the balloons, before going home with a goody bag.
An organiser said: ‘Thank you to all the parents and children for all their hard work and imagination.’
Results: Best dressed: 1 unicorn Tegan McSporran, 2 fairy Keira McSporran. Most original: 1 vampire - Emma Barbour, 2 cat - Elizabeth Moffitt, 3 Cinderella - Grace Irvine. Scariest: 1 Grim Reaper - Connor Barr, 2 red skeleton - Kyle McFee, 3 black skeleton - Thomas Moffitt.
Funniest: Lego Ninja - Taylor Russell. Group: Mary Poppins and sweep - Ashley Glenand Amber Glen. Lantern: 1 witch’s hat - Emma Barbour, 2 spiders - Taylor Russell, 3 carved cat - Grace Irvine.
