Charities granted £7,000

A PAIR of Campbeltown charities’ funds have been boosted by the Corra Foundation’s Henry Duncan grants.

Kintyre Link Club has been awarded a grant of £2,000 towards its running costs and Shopper-Aide Ltd awarded £5,000 towards the salary of its part-time team leader.

The fund was formerly the Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland and changed its name last August.

Brendan O’Hara MP said: ‘Many of the Henry Duncan grants go on staff and running costs, meaning they are a lifeline for local char- ities in this tough financial climate.’

Pilates people raise cash

LEONE Shaw Tulloch’s LST Pilates clients put their hands in their pockets and gave £837 for a Lochgilphead and Campbeltown charity to share.

A delighted Joan Stewart at Campbeltown’s Shopper Aide said: ‘Thank you Leone and everyone at LST who donated to our Christmas present fund - £521.’

Claire Cameron from the MS Centre Lochgilphead said: ‘Thank you so much to Leone and her wonderful pilates ladies for this kind donation of £316. We will be using it towards some of our Christmas events.’

Kennacraig’s gold star

A TRIO of Argyll and Bute ports has tied up with awards from Keep Scotland Beautiful (KSB).

Recently KSB accredited CalMac Ferries Ltd and Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited (CMAL) with 26 awards acknowledging both companies’ commitment to improving environmental quality.

Kennacraig struck gold and Portavadie and Clonaig were awarded silver status.
