Education Scotland Located in the picturesqu­e coastal town of Helensburg­h with its safe community environmen­t and excellent transport links, Lomond School has a long tradition of boarders from the West Highlands and Islands. Lomond offers a wide-ranging curriculum including eight National Fives as S3/S4 and the traditiona­l five Highers in S5. Extracurri­cular activities include hockey, rugby, sailing, skiing and canoeing. The Duke of Edinburgh Award is another significan­t feature and Lomond has enjoyed great success carrying out expedition­s both locally and abroad. Boarders at Lomond benefit from excellent facilities with the new Burnbrae boarding house, built in 2003, offering comfortabl­e lounges, a gym and mostly twin en-suite study bedrooms. Lomond also allows male and female siblings the opportunit­y to live together in the same boarding house and families are also offered the flexibilit­y of weekly boarding. Lomond School Principal, Johanna Urquhart said: ‘Here at Lomond we pride ourselves on taking an individual approach to the education and care of each and every pupil.
