Disregard and indifference shown by Openreach
Sir,
From December 27 to the late evening on the January 4, the people of Islay and Jura were once again shown complete disregard and indifference by the various internet providers and BT Openreach.
Non-existent or practically non-existent internet service along with members of customer service teams that constantly denied that we even had any line issues have played a huge part in heavily damaging what was left of our internet providers’ reputations.
With so many households that did not have fiber-optic connections being offline for so long, appropriate compensation must be paid out to my constituents.
In future we need much more joined-up thinking by the internet providers when monitoring line faults.
Far too many times call handlers have been trying to process multiple complaints, on an individual basis, rather than attempting to understand the problem facing the internet service for Islay and Jura wide.
As your local councillor, I will continue to press Openreach and our internet providers to dramatically improve their service and pay out compensation to customers.
A quality internet service is an essential part of living in the modern world, not a needless luxury. Councillor Alastair Redman
