Picture House screening backs Nancy Glen fund
CAMPBELTOWN Picture House will host a ‘pay-what-you-want’ sing-along screening of The Greatest Showman on Sunday, in aid of the Nancy Glen fund.
Seats for the 2.30pm screening are filling fast. There is nothing to pay when booking, simply a collection at the door.
Campbeltown Picture House (CPH) is bringing a touch of red carpet glamour to the Wee Toon as BAFTA award-winning movies litter its listings.
Many of CPH’s latest movie offerings picked up prizes at the 2018 British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards this week, including Phantom Thread, which premieres today.
The movie, which won costume design, stars Daniel Day-Lewis as renowned dressmaker Reynolds Woodcock in glamorous 1950s, post-war London, who, alongside his sister, played by Lesley Manville, dresses royalty, movie stars, heiresses, socialites, debutants and dames. with the distinct style of the House of Woodcock.

Also opening is Black Panther, which sees T’Challa return home to the fictional African nation of Wakanda to take his rightful place as king, after his father’s death.
Many of the movies which have been shown at the cinema for weeks also picked up BAFTAs.
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri picked up five awards: best film, leading actress, supporting actor, outstanding British film and original screenplay.
It stars Frances McDormand as a mother who rents three billboards to call attention to her daughter’s unsolved murder.
The Shape of Water, which premiered at CPH last week, collected three BAFTA awards: director, original music, and production design.
It tells the tale of Elisa, a mute, isolated woman who works as a cleaning lady in a hidden, high-security government laboratory in 1962 Baltimore.
Darkest Hour, which won awards for hair and make-up, and leading actor, stars Gary Oldman as British Prime Minister Winston Churchill in an inspiring true story beginning at the precipice of the Second World War.
Even Kintyre’s youngsters can be treated to award-winning movies, as Coco, which won best animated film, is on CPH’s listings.
Miguel dreams of becoming a musician, despite his family’s generations-old ban on music.
