MOK FEST, Kintyre’s premier music festival, has announced its lineup to rock the town this August.

The 26th Mull of Kintyre Music Festival (MOK Fest), running earlier than usual, from Wednesday August 8 to Sunday August 12, promises yet another fantastic lineup of headline bands.

Saturday night, August 11, in Victoria hall, sees the return of rave legends The Time Frequency (TTF) who blew away the audience with their last performance at the event in 2016.

Joining them will be DJ Rankin and local act Gullion.

The Saturday Traditional concert headlines with festival favourites Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham who will perform in Campbeltown Heritage Centre for the first time.

They will be joined by Hecla, a young four-piece vocal and instrumental band who recently played a well-received concert at Glasgow’s Celtic Connections.

The Grouse Ceilidh Band make their debut on Friday August 10 at the MOK Fest’s ceilidh night as do local outfit Rhuvaal which has been making a great name for itself during the past couple of years.

Rousing style

The Dalriada Connections Band featuring musicians from across the weekend line-up, alongside students and tutors for Campbeltown Grammar School, open the concert sets and the Kintyre Schools Pipe Band will get the night started in their usual rousing style.

An update on the performers for this year’s festival Gaelic night on August 8, as well as the Mitchell’s Glengyle Dalriada Connections and Survivors’ Night Concerts on August 12, will be in next week’s Courier.

Event manager, Iain Johnston of J.I.G. Events, said: ‘We are delighted to see the return of some festival favourites on the Saturday night as well as a great selection new bands making their debuts, which will give the event a diversity of musical choice across each concert.

‘Yet again we have aimed to cater for all ages and tastes in music and we are really looking forward to celebrating our 26th year.

‘Our plans are coming along well and we will make further announcements soon about the Saturday afternoon events, including the newly rebranded parade, Carni-West.’
