THE MULL of Kintyre Music Festival Gaelic night opens the festivities on August 8 with BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2017 finalist, Kim Carnie, who will be accompanied by Innes White on guitar.

The festival’s organisers are delighted with the response to the announcement of the headliners for the Friday and Saturday night concerts at this year’s event, and are announcing many of the bands who will play across the rest of the event which runs from August 8-12.

Iain MacPherson and Raibeart MacCallum will also perform, with more acts still to be confirmed for this event, which will be held at the Seafield Hotel.

The Mitchell’s Glengyle Dalriada Connections concert on Sunday August 12 in Campbeltown Heritage Centre will feature Gaelic vocalist Darren Maclean, Ciaran Mulholland from Northern Ireland plus a host of local and visiting artists.

Celebration

With one more main band still to be confirmed this event will once again be a fantastic celebration of Scottish,

Irish and panCeltic music.

The Sunday night concert sees the return of Campbeltown super-group Slainte Davaar Allstars, featuring some of the best musicians from Kintyre.

They are joined on stage this year by Deep Under Gullion, a collaboration of Gullion and Deep Joy, performing a joint set for the first time at Survivors’ Night.

Expect many more bands to be announced for this legendary event soon.

The festival also has firm favourite, the Young Folk Night on Thursday August 9 as well as the newly re-branded parade, Carni West on Saturday 11.

This will be followed by a new Saturday afternoon open air event, of which there will be more news over the next few weeks.

The Saturday afternoon Festival Club will yet again feature some fantastic music with local band Western Sound performing as well as the mega Saturday session.

Tickets for all the concerts should be on sale by mid-May and you can find out more about the event at www.mokfest.com.
