Brass band seeks funds for UK championships

-

Sir,

Please help us raise funds to take the band to the National Brass Band Championships 2018.

Campbeltown Brass is one of the most isolated bands in the country and are also one of the youngest competing bands in the senior circuit, with an average age seldom above 14 years old.

The majority of the players are still in primary and secondary education.

Contest journeys are normally between three and six hours, one way, often with an overnight stay and if there are road closures, the detour could put a few more hours to the journey time.

Yet, despite all these challenges, we continue to produce exceptional players and win major competitions.

This is all down to commitment and hard work from players to volunteers, from parents to supporters. We would not be able to compete and represent Campbeltown in any of these contests without the ongoing support of the community.

The road to Cheltenham, although an exciting one, is also a costly one and we value any donation from near and far to enable us to have this opportunity to take the band to Cheltenham... and back!

Two years ago when we reached the finals, it cost nearly £8,000 to take the band to Cheltenham. So every penny counts.

The event is from September 14 to 18.
