Police property tidy up needed

-

Sir, Several weeks ago I called Campbeltown police office to complain about the state of their garden at a property they own in Davaar Avenue. It is an absolute eye sore to the public and worse so for my parents who stay next door. I can’t honestly remember the last time the grass was cut and it is now more than 3ft tall, totally overgrown and the property itself needs attention. The garden has not been maintained for years and is attracting rodents which I never saw in the years I stayed with my mum and dad. The grass and weeds grow through my parents fence and they have added mesh to prevent it from coming through. I was assured that my concerns would be raised and to expect a call back but as yet no one has contacted my mother with an update or even to apologise. The street’s bus shelter is situated right outside the garden, the public comment on how hideous and bedraggled the garden looks. I know pictures have been sent in and marked for the attention of one of the chiefs however no one has responded. I want reassurance from the police that action is going to be taken and this problem is going to be fixed. It is not up to my parents or any of my family members to go in and cut their grass. It’s causing an influx of mice/rats and making my parents’ garden look untidy, immediate action needs to be taken. I am getting married in six weeks’ time and have organised for pictures to be taken at my parents’ home and there is no way I am having a garden in such an appalling state in the background of my wedding pictures. I want to know what the police plan to do with it and when is it going to happen? Surely it’s not hard to get a local company in the town to go in and cut the grass every month. Louise McGougan, Campbeltown.
