Free school meals and clothing applications
Pupils from primary one through to S6 are eligible for free meals and grants provided their parents or carers are in receipt of benefits. Applications for assistance for the 2018/19 school session are being accepted by Argyll and Bute Council. Support can be provided for parents or carers receiving the following: income support, income based jobseeker’s allowance, income related employment and support allowance, child tax credit but not working tax credit and income should not exceed £16,105, child tax credit and working tax credit income should not exceed £6,420, support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999, universal credit: monthly take home pay for period must be under £610. Anyone who received an award during 2017/18 session must re-apply for this to continue. A school clothing grant of £100 is available for people receiving any of the following: income support, income based jobseeker’s allowance, income related employment and support allowance, housing benefit council tax reduction, child tax credit and working tax credit – income should not exceed £6,420 or universal credit – monthly take home pay for period must be under £610.
