Slainte Davaar Allstars are to headline MOK Fest survivors

-

Campbeltown super-group Slainte Davaar Allstars will blast back into MOK Fest action on Survivors Night. The band took a year out last year and make a welcome return to close this year’s festival in spectacular fashion on August 12. The concert also sees the debut of two bands which have come together to perform especially for the event this year. Deep Under Gullion (D U G ) is the combination of three local bands Gullion, Under Smoke and Deep Joy who will be joined by members of Campbeltown Brass to perform an eclectic and energetic set of funk, punk, rock and disco hits. Earlier in the evening Kintyre’s newest 11-piece soul/ pop band, we.R.soul band will make their debut. This band brings together established local musicians and fresh talent to create a sound with powerhouse vocals, a lively rhythm section and dazzling horns all fused into one. Expect an irresistible set of classic and modern hits, including a few surprises along the way. This year also sees the return of the hugely popular duo Alex and Archie McAllister, who first played as duo on the main stage at the second festival in 1994 and performed many times at Survivors Night with the Wee Toon Tellers over the years. The Gilchristians and Session A83 will also perform with Davie Robertson as MC. Tickets for all concerts for the festival, which runs from August 8 – 12, are available locally from A P Taylors, Main Street Campbeltown and on-line from Ticketweb at www.ticketweb.com.
