Kayak theft

An orange Feelfree Gemini Sport tandem kayak was stolen from the beach just north of Port Charlotte, Islay, between Friday July 6 and Monday July 9.

Honesty box theft

Between 1pm on Wednesday July 11 and 4pm on Thursday July 12, an honesty box, containing cash, was stolen from outside the Port Ellen Harbour Associatio­n building in Frederick Crescent, Port Ellen, Islay.

Vehicle seized

A car was stopped by police on Millknowe, Campbeltow­n, at about 6.30pm on Thursday July 12 as the 26-year-old male driver was not wearing a seat belt. Enquiries revealed the vehicle had no insurance, it was seized and the man charged.

Careless cycling

A 56-year-old man who cycled in a careless manner at about 9.30pm on Thursday July 12 on Lochend Street, Campbeltow­n, causing a vehicle to swerve to avoid a collision, was stopped and charged.

Theft of belongings

A black Motorola mobile phone and brown fleece, which were subsequent­ly found nearby, were stolen from Bowmore Square, Islay, between 3.20pm and 3.25pm last Friday.

Street drinking

A 26-year-old man was issued with a recorded police warning for consuming alcohol in a public place, in contravent­ion of local bylaws, after he was stopped on the Esplanade, Campbeltow­n, at about 10.40pm last Friday.

Breach of bail conditions

A 39-year-old man who breached court bail conditions by being at Kilmashena­chan Caravan Park, Southend, at about 4.30pm on last Saturday, was arrested and charged.

Shopliftin­g

A 28-year-old man, in possession of a small amount of cannabis, and a 35-year-old woman stole a bottle of alcohol from the Co-op in Campbeltow­n at about 7.35pm last Saturday. Police traced the pair and they were charged.

Abusive behaviour

A 32-year-old man who behaved in an abusive manner at around 8.45pm last Saturday, in Glebe Street, Campbeltow­n, was arrested and charged.
