Foursome take Torrisdale Cup

Carradale Golf Club welcomed 17 teams to its Am-Am Torrisdale Cup Open on August 5. The weather held and the course was in great condition, receiving many positive comments following a tough season of extreme weather conditions for greenkeepe­r Robert Strang. The club thanked Glen Scotia Distillery for their very generous sponsorshi­p of the event and its continued support of the club. Congratula­tions go to the winning team of Ryan McConnachi­e, Alan Robertson, Alistair McMillan and John McMillan (48 strokes); runners-up: Craig Ramsay, Jim Clark, John Ramsay and Roy McKinven (49 strokes); and third placed: Jamie Campbell, Lorna Campbell, Gillian Kitson and Jamie Robertson (50 strokes). Other results – nearest the pin in two strokes at the 4th: Vince Jordan. Nearest the pin at 10th: Robert Irvine. Nearest the pin at 17th: Ranald Rixson. Drive nearest line at 14th: Margaret MacFarlane. A club spokespers­on said: ‘A big thank you to sponsors, Glen Scotia, competitor­s for taking part and the backroom support team. ‘Thanks also to Machrihani­sh Dunes Golf Club which provided a special prize, awarded to the winner of a lucky squares draw, of an overnight stay for two at the Royal Hotel or Ugadale Hotel.’
