Mainland buyers flock to Tiree sale
United Auctions held its annual sale of 4,503 lambs at Tiree Auction Mart last Saturday. Lambs were shown in good bloom and, like other centres, they lacked flesh which resulted in a drop of 1.2 kilos on the year. Trade was firm and all classes sold to a good turnout of mainland buyers. Lambs averaged 33 kilos and levelled out at £56.28, recording a drop of 11p per head on the year while being 6p per kilo up.
