Ukrainian pianist comes to Kintyre
Kintyre Music Club is delighted to be opening its 2018/19 concert session on Friday September 21 with Beethoven’s wonderful Moonlight sonata in a recital given by the Ukranian pianist Anna Fedorova. One of Europe’s premier young pianists, Anna was born in Kiev in 1990 and from an early age she demonstrated a natural musical ability and maturity. She went on to study at the Lysenko School of Music in Kiev, then at the prestigious Accademia Pianistica in Imola with professor Leonid Margarius and latterly at the Royal College of Music with Norma Fisher. Audiences around the world have been impressed by the depth and power of her musicianship. She made her debut at the world-famous Het Concertgebouw at the age of 16 playing Chopin’s Piano Concerto No 2 and since then she has performed there more than 30 times. Her Concertgebouw performance of Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No 2, which can be watched on YouTube, has received an amazing 18.8 million views. Anna released her first recital CD in 2014 and her recordings include Rachmaninov’s Piano Concertos No 2 and 3 and Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition. Anna has claimed top prizes at numerous international piano competitions, including the International Rubinstein ‘In Memoriam’ piano competition, the Moscow International Frederick Chopin Competition for young pianists, the Lyon Piano Competition, and recently became recipient of the Verbier Festival Academy Award. For her Campbeltown concert Anna will be playing fantasias by Chopin, Mozart and Schumann, a sonata by Scriabin and Beethoven’s Moonlight sonata. She will also be launching her latest CD at the concert. Kintyre Music Club said: ‘This is sure to be a very memorable concert so please do come and join the audience at the Lorne and Lowland Church Hall at 7.30pm.
