Parking problem in Campbeltown?

-

Sir, As someone who regularly has to park in or around the town centre of Campbeltown, it is most frustrating to see so many spaces allocated to taxis, and very often not occupied. It would surely make much more sense to change the spaces beside and behind The Original Factory Shop back to regular parking spaces, especially as they were previously spaces which did not have the one-hour time limit on them. I expect most people think of the taxi rank as being at the town hall, hence that being where most of the taxi drivers seem to wait for hires. They have space right up to the Argyll Hotel and it is rare to ever see them using it all. People do seem to have started parking behind the Factory Shop, probably purely out of desperation, and quite rightly so, seeing as I have literally never seen a taxi wait there since the rank was reinstated at the town hall. Surely common sense should prevail and the many, many people who struggle to find a parking space on a daily basis should get their parking spaces back. Name and address supplied.
