Cinema’s ‘scratch and sniff’ Halloween flick
Halloween is coming to Campbeltown early this week, when a ‘scratch and sniff’ version of Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the WereRabbit hits the big screen. On Sunday, viewers will experience two of the nation’s favourite stop-motion heroes as they have never smelled them before. The film, being shown as part of Anim18, a UK-wide celebration of British animation, features Stinking Bishop to Bunny Burps in the duo’s first feature-length film from Aardman, complete with giant vegetables, ‘Anti-Pesto’, and a mysterious beast on the loose.
Smells
Promising olfactory amusement for audiences of all age, the audience will be given a card containing weird and wonderful smells linked to scenes in the film. When prompted, viewers are invited to scratch and sniff their card transforming their experience of the film. Book early to avoid disappointment. Also new this weekend, First Man takes viewers into the stratosphere, telling the riveting story of NASA’s mission to land a man on the moon. On the heels of their six-time Academy Award-winning hit, La La Land, Oscar-winning director Damien Chazelle and star Ryan Gosling reteam for Universal Pictures’ First Man, focusing on Neil Armstrong and the years 1961-1969.
Sacrifices
A visceral, first-person account, based on the book by James R Hansen, the movie will explore the sacrifices and the cost, on Armstrong and on the nation, of one of the most dangerous missions in history. Viewers should be aware that First Man contains a sequence of flashing lights which might affect those who are susceptible to photosensitive epilepsy.
