Busy month for Dunaverty ladies
June has been a busy month down at Dunaverty Golf Course with the Ladies’ Championship dominant. This was won by the lady’s captain, Lindsay Garrett. The Centenary Trophy event was keenly contested with 12 ladies carding nett scores in the 60s.
Despite these fantastic scores they were overshadowed by two nett scores of 58.
Trophy
Margaret Richardson won from Evelyn Shaw, with the better inward half, and will collect the trophy which features two of Belle Robertson’s major medals.
The June medal was won by Lindsay Garrett 73-11=62. There has been a great response to the ladies’ taster sessions at the club and the Blind Veterans’ competition with a pairs greensome format (both players driving off and then, after choosing which ball to play, it is alternative shots) was the ideal time for three to try their hands at a full competition.
Great success
The evening was a great success with Linda Brannigan and Mary Wilson carding a nett score of 60.6 to win from Ailie MacBrayne and Lorna Cook.
The last individual event of the month also raised money for the Chest, Heart and Stroke Charity. The Stableford format was again ideal to include the newest members and was a very closely contested competition.
Margaret Barr and Margaret Macfarlane both carded 34 points but a three-way tie on 35 points saw it going to the better inward half. In third place was Lea Brown, second Jana MacPherson and the winner was Mary Wilson.
