Whitehouse garden event is all set to grow and grow

-

Now in its second year, Whitehouse Village Hall Grow and Show gardening event will be held on Saturday August 24, from noon to 3.30pm.

The 2018 show was well supported and was a great success.

This is a non-competitive friendly opportunity for villagers to bring the produce of their gardens and show others their successes, whether big or small.

The villagers of Clachan, Skipness, Tarbert and Tayinloan are invited to join with the Whitehouse growers to present their garden produce – entries should be delivered between 9.30am and 11.30am.

Organising committee members Suse Coon and Dorothy O’Donnell are looking forward to many entries once again and are hoping that this year’s show will be as successful as last year’s.

‘This is a wonderful opportunity to bring our communities together and share the enjoyable experience of gardening in its many forms,’ said Dorothy.

‘Last year we were delighted that visitors from outwith the villages joined in our celebration of gardening and its wonderful produce.

‘Many thanks to all those giving their time, skills and support for the event.’

Schedules can be found in shops and notice boards in the villages.

Visitors will be able to enjoy hot food and homebaking, and the Whitehouse SWI will be serving afternoon teas.

Gardening experts will be on hand to answer questions and give advice, and this year there will be a Gardeners’ Question Time with Pete Creech, an organic gardener; Jacky Preece, Ormsary Estate gardener and garden designer; Neil John MacLean, from Ardrishaig – an expert in vegetable growing and a highly-sought-after judge.

Heart of Argyll Wildlife will be present and there is to be a BioBlitz and other activities for everyone to join in.

The programme for the events will be available soon on the Facebook page: Whitehouse Village Hall.
