Coorie Doon this Autumn at the Tayvallich Inn

-

A long-term love affair with Tayvallich turned into a more permanent relationship when Brian Masson and his wife Kathryn took over the Tayvallich Inn almost three years ago. And it has gone from strength to strength ever since.

If you haven’t been before, or for a while, you should think about taking the scenic drive down one autumnal afternoon or evening. You’ll be glad you did - and you’ll want to return again and again.

The pub has been tastefully refurbished recently and the outside area is very inviting for a bit of alfresco lunch – the views are as good as the food!

The kitchen has been redeveloped to cope with an increase in custom and whilst Kathryn is a great cook and likes to get stuck in, head chef Pedro has recently taken over the top spot, creating beautiful dishes to tempt every taste bud.

The dining area and bar now have a fresh, open feel. Paintings by local artists and specially-commissioned glass art adorn the walls of the restaurant, adding to the contemporary but warm feeling in the room.

The bar, with its centred stove and sheepskin throws over rustic wooden chairs give it a really cosy feel, perfect for a pint and/ or a glass of wine, following a brisk walk on a crisp day.

Brian and Kathryn have introduced a new range of tempting gins and real ales, but good food remains the vital ingredient. Brian said ‘We aim for freshly-prepared food using local suppliers. ‘Seafood is our speciality, and we serve hand-dived scallops which are landed in Tayvallich. Our langoustines and crab are caught in the Sound of Jura, and our meat comes from Oban.’

The Tayvallich Inn can accommodate up to 80 people in the restaurant, bar and outside decking

area, and is proud to employ local people. Brian continued ‘we are keen for people to take a trip out to beautiful Tayvallich and enjoy a good meal in a friendly atmosphere.’

The winter warmer menu is launching early November and will include classic dishes, including seafood gratins, a pie of the day and sticky toffee pudding. The winter opening hours will be Tuesday to Sunday (closed Monday).

If you fancy a wee night out in Tayvallich, here’s a date for your diary! At the Tayvallich Inn on November 9th, there will be music from Archie McAllister on fiddle and Iain McFadyen on vocals and guitar. It should be a great night. Why not book a table first and enjoy some food before the entertainment starts?

Brian, Kathryn, manager Danny, Pedro and the team look forward to seeing you soon.
