Tactical voting

The main issue in this election is now Nicola Sturgeon’s reckless demand for another independence referenfum which is a clear breach of her promise to respect the previous one.

Her obsession with this issue is also a breach of her promise to make education her priority. Those of us who have children in school just now are well aware that education has never been her priority.

Brexit may be disruptive but it is nothing compared to the devastating divorce the SNP have planned for us. They want a hard border between us and the rest of the UK which is still by far the biggest market for everything produced in Scotland.

They want to scrap the Barnett formula at the very moment when we need it most, losing Scotland about £10 billion in funding each year.

They plan to make everyone take their wages and pensions in a new currency but can’t say what it will be called or what it will be worth.

Worst of all, they plan a sad split between us and the people we have stood beside for

over 300 years. None of this is for Scotland’s benefit – it’s just to feed the egos of people like Salmond and Sturgeon.

The only sensible response to this is to vote tactically to remove as many SNP MPs as possible.

Tory voters in Glasgow or Paisley should hold their nose and back Labour, Labour voters in Argyll or Perth should grit their teeth and vote Tory, both lots should back the Lib Dems where they have the best chance.

Most SNP MPs have small majorities; they could be removed if we get out and vote. David Barbour, Southend.
