St Andrew’s ceilidh boost for charity
A St Andrew’s Day ceilidh and auction has boosted a Kintyre charity’s funds by almost £4,000.
John Armour, as well as putting on a Reverend I M Jolly skit, ran an auction at the Mairi Semple Cancer Fund event, during which people put in bids on everything from whisky and paintings to massages and pony riding sessions.
No ceilidh would be complete without music, and last Saturday’s fundraiser in Campbeltown Town Hall featured tunes from top traditional band Trail West.
Money was still coming in when the Courier went to press but organisers said that at least £3,948 was raised.
As well as all those who attended, the committee thanked the following: those who made the night possible: John Armour; Argyll Bakeries; Trail West; Bobby Cairns and the town hall staff; and Amy McKerral, Eilidh Macalister and Abbi
McGougan at Look Good, Feel Good. Sponsors: The Ardshiel Hotel; Argyll Bakeries; Beinn an Tuirc Distillers; the Boyd family; Argyll Hotel, Bellochantuy; CalMac; Cafe Cadora; Dunlossit Guest House; Fresh Connection; Glen Scotia Distillery; Glenside Tractors; Hope Blamire; Islay Frigate Hotel; The Kilbrannan Bar; The Kintyre Larder; Kintyre Tablet; Laphroaig Distillery; Jennie Dunn at Machrihanish Golf Club;
Laura Kennedy at Serenity Spa; Lynsey Mcshannon massage therapist; Beth and Ross McEachran; RBCA Services Ltd; Springbank Distillery; Stuart Herd; Rachel Edwards
at Yoga Nadi; West Coast Motors; Johnson Fish; and Numero Dix Hair Salon. Last but not least, thanks go to the West Kintyre Windfarm Trust which offered financial support to fund the event.
A spokesperson said: ‘The generosity of many has allowed us to keep supporting the folk of Kintyre who need it.’
