Nominations needed for Citizen and Young Musician of the Year
Do you know someone who did something outstanding in 2019? Or a young person whose musical talent or progress deserves recognition?
The Rotary Club of Campbeltown is asking members of the public to nominate a Citizen of the Year and Young Musician of the Year for 2019.
Extra mile
A Rotary spokesperson said: ‘If you know anyone who has gone the extra mile to help a neighbour, or someone who has worked really hard to raise funds for a worthwhile cause, or has given any kind of outstanding service to the community, please nominate that person for Citizen of the Year.
‘Even if your nomination was not successful last year, it could well be worth repeating a previous nomination.’
The Rotary spokesperson added: ‘If you know of anyone, or if there is anyone in your family who has shown outstanding musical progress during 2019, please nominate that person for Young Musician of the Year.’
The winner of the Young Musician of the Year title will receive the Norman and Phyllis Milne memorial award, and custody of the engraved cup for one year plus a generous cheque.
The winners will be revealed at the Rotary’s annual awards dinner at the Argyll Arms Hotel next month, where presentations will be made to Young Stock Person of the Year as well as Young Musician of the Year and Citizen of the Year.
Nomination forms can be picked up from the florist counter at Fresh Connection on Campbeltown’s Main Street, or downloaded from the Rotary Club of Campbeltown Facebook page. The closing date is February 10.
Rotary International, which has its head office in Chicago, is one of the charities that provides small grants to local groups across the world.
In Campbeltown, the Rotary tends to support local groups and disaster appeals, usually through ShelterBox.
ShelterBox is an international disaster relief charity which provides shelter and cooking and sleeping equipment in boxes that are sent anywhere they are needed.
