Seniors serenaded at community council concert
Around 100 senior citizens enjoyed an afternoon of music and dance, free of charge, thanks to Campbeltown Community Council.
A variety of performers, including singers, pipers, drummers and dancers, took to the Victoria Hall stage last Saturday and ensured the audience enjoyed an afternoon to remember.
There was also tea, coffee, cakes, sandwiches and sausage rolls on offer, which were served by volunteers and members of Campbeltown Sea Cadets and people were even given ‘doggy bags’ so they could take home the leftovers at the end of the day.
Thank
Campbeltown Community Council convener Alan Baker said: ‘Campbeltown Community Council would like to thank everyone involved in making the senior citizens’ concert such a great success.
‘The free raffle was once again very well supported by donations from shops, hotels, bars, businesses and various individuals.
‘Kay Johnston was a most able MC for the concert and introduced the Kintyre Schools Pipe Band, James McCorkindale dancers accompanied by Julie Blue, Campbeltown Grammar School choir conducted by Katie Cameron, Hope Strang, Alex and Arran McAllister, Robert McCallum, who also worked the sound system, and the Take Note trio.
‘Thanks also to the kitchen volunteers, including the Campbeltown Sea Cadets, who helped to serve the teas and clear up afterwards, and not forgetting the staff from the Aqualibrium, in particular Jamie-Lee for setting up the Victoria Hall.
‘Thanks too to Catherine Anne Macaulay for organising the afternoon entertainment, Catherine Dobbie for organising the catering and the Royal Hotel for heating the sausage rolls.
‘Most importantly, thanks to the appreciative audience for coming along to the event. Hope to see you all next year.’
