Kintyre Gin wins silver in Scottish survey

-

The team at Beinn an Tuirc Distillery, where Kintyre Gin is made, is celebrating coming second in a poll to find the nation’s favourite gin.

The Scottish Gin Society customer survey is one of the industry’s biggest samples of public taste and choice in gin drinking and Kintyre Gin held onto its place as one of the favourites.

Niall Macalister Hall, director at Beinn an Tuirc Distillery, told the Courier: ‘We were absolutely delighted Kintyre Gin achieved second place in the Scottish Gin Society Survey for the second year running.

‘It feels even more special this year given the large increase in voter numbers in this consumer poll and the vast array of Scottish gins on the market.’

He added: ‘There was no change at the top with the inimitable Harris Gin taking gold for the third year running but it was lovely to see the wonderful Rock Rose in third place this year.

‘We feel privileged to share the podium with these giants of Scottish gin and are delighted Kintyre Gin is still Scotland’s second favourite.

‘With even more Scottish craft gins on the market, and with the quality higher than ever, this is an amazing achievement for our wee distillery.’

Loyal following

The Scottish Gin Society said smaller gin brands enjoyed success throughout the survey, reflecting the loyal following of many smaller brands and the diverse landscape of the Scottish gin industry.

A society spokesperson said: ‘The poll shows the wonderful diversity that exists in the Scottish gin industry, with thousands of the votes cast supporting some of the smaller and more rural distilleries as well as some of the big names.’
