Pupils’ under 15s have a ball at Easter Road

-

The Campbeltown Pupils under-15s side, Campbeltown Pupils Youth 2005s, had an absolute ball last Saturday as they enjoyed Hibernian Football Club’s Match Day Experience.

This included a tour of the club’s Easter Road stadium and the Hibs Training Centre at East Mains, and coaching sessions delivered by the club’s community coaches.

The young Campbeltown players also watched a Hibs vs Livingston Scottish Premier League match, and played their own half-time game on the pitch at the Edinburgh stadium.

Superb experience

Coach David Paterson said: ‘It was a superb experience for all involved from start to finish and we cannot thank everyone at Hibs enough

– especially Sue McLernon who helped us organise the day and took care of us throughout.

‘It was also nice to see local lads Colin Millar and Kenny Millar, who work at Hibernian, and later meet their parents Tommy and Lorna who were also visiting the capital from Campbeltown along with their son Ewan. ‘And a special thanks to Tommy and Lorna for the kind gesture of a bag of sweets for the boys.’

As well as the trip to Edinburgh on Saturday, the Ardshiel Hotel-sponsored side enjoyed two nights away in Falkirk on Friday and Saturday night which tied in with their away league game against Giffnock Soccer Centre on Sunday morning.

Unfortunately the boys lost out 3-2 to the Glasgow side but hopefully can build on their second half performance having trailed 3-0 at half time.

Goals from Scott Graham and Lorne Paterson in the second half gave the Pupils a chance but it was all too late.

David added: ‘Well done to Giffnock on their victory and thanks to all for the hospitality.’

Before heading home the boys were also treated to a last minute visit to Celtic Park to take in the Celtic vs Kilmarnock SPL fixture courtesy of The Kano Foundation.

The trip was funded by parents of the 2005s but special thanks went to Kintyre Hire, which supported the trip by providing the free mini-bus hire for the weekend – which all at the Pupils 2005s really appreciated.

This Sunday the 2005s have a chance for revenge in the league as Giffnock visit Campbeltown. Kick off is 11am on the 3G AWP at Kinloch Green.
