Hoggets dearest trade so far at Stirling
Caledonian Marts Ltd had forward 427 store cattle and 395 store and breeding sheep at its fortnightly sale on Monday in Stirling.
Bullocks sold to 243ppkg for a pen of Charolais from J and D Mitchell, Offers, Gargunnock and to £1,200 on two occasions for Simmentals both from Angle Park, Melville Gate, Ladybank.
Heifers sold to 254p for a pen of Limousins from W Owen, Muirpark, Stirling, and to £1,170 on two occassions from J and J Kay,
Castlehill, Port Glasgow and Angle Park, Melville Gate, Ladybank.
Black and whites sold to 164ppkg from G Millar and Son, Gallamuir, Plean, and to £850 from the same home.

Bullocks per kg: 242p Hattrick Farms and Cowdens; 241p Hattrick Farms; 239p Cowdens; 237p Langholm, Campbeltown; 235p Muirpark; 233p Lammerview (twice) and Langholm.
Heifers per kg: 226p Hattrick; 224p Lammerview.
Also forward were 395 store hoggets, feeding and breeding ewes.
Store hoggets fell short of buyers’ requirements and many more could have been sold to sellers’ advantage.
All classes of hoggets met the dearest trade so far this season, selling to a top of £99 for Suffolks from W Paterson and Son, South Ailey, Helensburgh.
Breeding ewes sold to £100 for a pen of Mule Ewes scanned twins from Angus Hamilton, Mid Forrest, Cumbernauld.
