live Argyll Volunteers

-

Live Argyll is looking for volunteers across Campbeltown and Lochgilphead in a range of rewarding positions to suit a wide variety of interests. All positions have varying levels of commitment so you can find something that fits with your lifestyle.

Across Lochgilphead and Campbeltown there are ‘volunteer activity friends’ positions which assist people attending ‘move more circuit classes’ for people affected by cancer. The classes are one hour a week in six week blocks and your role is to support and encourage participants before, during and after the class.

The right candidate is someone open, warm, friendly, able to actively listen and have a genuine interest in cancer care. Training will be given and reasonable out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed.

Additionally in both areas there are Reading Buddy positions, that are flexible with your availability. This position includes welcoming children and/or adults as they arrive, listening to the adult or child read outloud and assisting as appropriate and communicating with parents or carers. You should have good literacy skills and enjoy reading, be reliable and responsible and have patience.

If tech and IT are more your thing, there are Tech Buddy positions available across Lochgilphead and Campbeltown. Tech buddies share IT skills by helping LiveArgyll library customers who struggle to use computers or the internet to gain knowledge and skills. You should be able to work alongside library staff, have good IT skills and be reliable.
