Kirsty shows her stripes in support of the NHS
What started out as an offthe-cuff dare between sisters has turned into a fundraising challenge raising hundreds of pounds for the NHS.
Kirsty Cairns was encouraged by her younger sister Linsey to take part in the zebra challenge, something they had seen on the social media app TikTok.
The challenge involves making a part of your body striped, to resemble the distinctive black-and-white striped coats of zebras.
Although only challenged to do one leg, Kirsty decided to transform her entire body, from head to toe, and thought she could raise some money for a worthy cause in the process.
‘I decided to chose NHS Charities Together,’ Kirsty said. ‘I covered my body in tape stripes and then set to it with some dark fake tan. I completed the tan last Friday night, and apparently it stays on for anywhere between 10 and 14 days!’
Kirsty, a quality manager at Donald McLean Contractors, is working from home at the moment, only leaving her house for a daily walk and essentials, but she says she has already had ‘a few odd stares’ at her new appearance.
She has set up a GoFundMe page with a target of £200 which, including some cash donations still to be collected, has already been raised.
‘Thank you to everyone who has already donated,’ Kirsty said. ‘I would be more than grateful if anyone else would like to donate.’
