Plans in place for Kintyre sheep sale

-

Kintyre Agricultural Society (KAS), along with C&D Auctions in Longtown, is planning its sheep sale for Saturday September 19.

Organisers say the sale taking place depends on the current Covid-19 restrictions and guidelines staying as they are or easing slightly.

A KAS spokesperson said: ‘There will be restrictions in place but please use the following link and read carefully to get an idea of the guidelines that we will all have to follow on the day of the sale: http://iaas.co.uk/iaas-updates-auction-market-guidelines/

‘The sale will take place entirely outside and numbers attending will be restricted to those selling and those intending to buy. Everyone entering the field will have to provide their contact details, and hand sanitising points will be available at various points around the pens and sale ring. All guidelines from stewards on the day of the sale must be adhered to.’

Organisers add that it would be helpful to have an early indication of what stock sellers may have for the sale.

‘This does not need to be exact but will help us when getting pens ready as we will have to construct pens in the field to compensate for the loss of the shed area and this will need to be done 28 days before the sale to comply with existing foot and mouth regulations,’ said the spokesperson.
