Valerie and David get on their bikes for charity

-

Two Kintyre cyclists are well on their way to achieving their individual goals of cycling a certain distance during September in a bid to raise funds for their chosen charities.

Valerie Nimmo is aiming to complete 300 miles to raise money for Cancer Research UK, while David Armour endeavours to complete 250 miles in aid of Diabetes UK.

Valerie, who is a member of the Cancer Research UK Kintyre committee, said: ‘Since we have been unable to fundraise through coffee mornings this year, I decided to participate in the Cycle 300 for Cancer Research UK which means I have to cycle 300 miles in September.

‘I will be pedalling harder than ever because I want to raise money for life-saving research and help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.’

Anyone who would like to sponsor Valerie, who is on track to achieve her target, can do so by donating money to any member of the Kintyre committee or by visiting https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/valeries-cycle-300fundraising-page-4

David is also well on his way to reaching his 250-mile goal, having already cycled more than 200 miles as he takes part in the UK-wide cycle ride to support people affected by diabetes.

David said: ‘There are 4.8 million people living with diabetes in the UK, the complications of which lead to more than 500 premature deaths every week. So, I’m riding towards a healthier me, and a better future for people living with diabetes.’
