Second round of awards from MACC fund

-

Machrihanish Airbase Community Company (MACC) has announced that the second tranche of funding from its Charitable Giving Scheme has been awarded to various local groups.

Funding has been awarded to Kintyre Youth Café and Young Carers; KADAS; McCorkindale School of Dance; Multiple Sclerosis Centre; Sound of Kintyre Homeowners’ Association; Kintyre Community Support Network; Carradale Village Hall; Laggan Opportunity and Amenity Fund and Kintyre Angling Club.

The donations will be used by some of these organisations to help them support the community’s most vulnerable people in what are unsettling times.

Since 2014, MACC has awarded more than £60,000 to local clubs, organisations and good causes including the largest one-off donation of £15,000 to the local kidney dialysis charity campaign in 2014.

Earlier in 2020, a first tranche of funding was released early to enable local organisations to apply for financial support during the first few difficult months of lockdown, with six local good causes receiving financial support at that time.

MACC Charitable Giving Scheme was set up in 2017 and awards funds in line with MACC’s charitable objectives: managing community land and assets for community benefit; sustainable development; community development and regeneration; development of projects of particular benefit to the young and/or disadvantaged groups and projects that provide majority benefit to the people of PA28 6 post code area.

A spokesperson said: ‘MACC will continue to support local good causes in the future and an announcement will be made in summer next year inviting local organisations to apply for funding.’
