Cinema preparing to roll out the red carpet

-

On top of inciting a sign war, staff at Campbeltown Picture House are busy preparing to re-open later this month, when restrictions allow.

Cinema manager Ellen Mainwood said: ‘After some serious vacuuming, scrubbing and shampooing, we will be re-opening on May 21. We will be opening on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays initially but expanding during the school holidays and towards the end of the year.

‘Currently, social distancing is still in place so we would strongly encourage people to book before coming to the cinema to make sure they have seats and that they can sit where they like.’

The cinema will be opening with Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway which, judging by the response to the first film, staff expect to be extremely popular with families.

The live action and computer generated imagery film tells of Peter’s latest adventures, this time out in the garden, where he finds himself in a world where mischief is appreciated, but soon his family comes to bring him home.

Also hitting the big screen when the cinema re-opens is the new part-live action and part-animated Tom and Jerry – the latest tale of the renowned mayhem-causing cat and mouse – and actionsmash-fest Godzilla vs Kong, a sequel to Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Kong: Skull Island.

Coming in the next few weeks will be Nomadland, Minari, The Father and A Quiet Place II. Alongside the newer films, the cinema has also rescheduled its ‘Thirty Films to See Before You’re Thirty’ season, kicking off with Trainspotting and The Goonies. Ellen added: ‘Along with social distancing please ensure to wear your mask at all times in the building, except when eating and drinking in your cinema seat.’
