Last chance to boost community carers’ fund

-

There is still time to contribute to a fundraiser which will be used to treat community carers to a meal in a choice of Campbeltown restaurants.

The fund, which is part of Kintyre man David MacPherson’s Ben Nevis Challenge, closes on July 31.

David, 45, survived a life-changing car accident which affected his mobility more than 20 years ago.

A team of family, friends and volunteers showed incredible resilience by getting him within 100 metres of the summit of the UK’s highest mountain in a specialised wheelchair last month.

When David first announced his inspirational plans in 2020, he revealed he also hoped to raise money to reward carers for their hard work throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

David and his dad, David senior, had hoped to organise various fundraising events to boost the total in the run-up to the Ben Nevis ascent but restrictions meant it was not possible and they are now having to rely on donations only to fund the meal vouchers. ‘Thank you to everyone who has donated to us so far,’ said David senior. ‘We really appreciate the support.

‘If people can dig deep to give us one last wee boost that would be fantastic. Our community carers have done a great job and deserve to be rewarded.’

A special bank account was set up to allow people to donate money directly to the challenge. The account name is Ben Nevis Challenge, the sort code is 82-61-20 and the account number is 40025200.
