United Auctions, Dalmally, Saturday June 3: sold 176 store cattle, 96 breeding cattle and 2517 sheep of all classes.
Bullocks sold to £1570 for a 446kg LimX from A & M Buchanan, Achnaba, to average £1060.24 (+£281.19) while heifers sold to £1600 for a 442kg LimX from the same home and to average £897.17 (+£230.77). Bullocks sold to 379.6p/kg for a pen of 4, 411kg Limousins from Achnaba Farm to average 324.57p/ kg (+75.86p) and heifers sold to 378p/ kg for a pen of 4, 230kg Limousins from A N Ritchie, Barbreck to average 290.41p/ kg (+47.18p).
Breeding cattle sold to £2450 for a SimX heifer & bull calf from D Dempster, Barguillean Farm.
Ewes with lambs at foot sold to £90 per life for Mule Gimmers with single lambs from P M Kennedy, Dunans.
An increased show of grazing and breeding cattle sold extremely well at increased values on the year to a large following of buyers. All classes of sheep also met a spirited demand, selling at high levels in keeping with other centres.
